Actor | Dancer | Producer

ABOUT ME!

Hey what's up!

Thanks for stopping by - my name's Hugo Julian Wehe and I'm an actor, dancer, and producer based in NYC. I was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic but moved to Queens when I was just a youngin' with my mom and brother and have hung around since.

I graduated from Columbia University in 2019 where I studied psychology and linguistics and began exploring acting. At Columbia, I was fortunate enough to have performed in numerous campus productions with Latenite Theatre and King Crown's Shakespeare Troupe, while also learning about film performance.

Before Columbia, though, I spent a lot of my creative energy in bboying and hip-hop. My mom once told me that I first began to walk well before I could speak, which - in a Latinx family - naturally translated to learning bachata and merengue. This also meant I spent a lot of time practicing with a broom handle when no one was looking.

Next thing I know, my older brother got me into bboying (popping and freestyle mainly) and when I was 16, I began performing for Untouchable Events as a dancer (or "party motivator" if you wanna go all technical here). I've had the blessing of performing in countless venues like the Yankee Stadium, NYC's Rainbow Room, and more.

Since graduating college, I furthered my creative education by completing intensive acting training at the two-time Tony Award-winning and National Medal of Arts recipient Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. At the end of 2019, I was fortunate enough to become a Miranda Family Fellow, and I have been able to participate in workshops/seminars hosted by Lin-Manuel and other prominent figures in the entertainment world.

Right now you can find me living in Harlem with my pup, so if you need to reach me, head down to the contact section and shoot me a message.

Peace!

- Hugo
